Greek mathematician. The son of an astronomer, who probably introduced him to mathematics, Archimedes studied in Alexandria, where his teacher Conon of Samos and Eratosthenes came into contact with, the latter dedicated his Method Archimedes, which exhibited his brilliant application of the mechanical geometry, in which "weighed" imaginary unknown areas and volumes to determine its value. Then returned to Syracuse, where he devoted himself to scientific work.
The idea of Archimedes is reflected in one of the original proposals of his work On Floating Bodies, pioneer of hydrostatics; for the famous principle that bears his name, as there explained, making use of it is possible to calculate the law an alloy, which enabled him to discover that the goldsmith had committed fraud
